Crystal was born in Zug, Switzerland. She graduated from the Frie Gymnasium in Zurich, circled the globe at the age of 19 and then moved to the U.S. in 1983. She obtained her college degree in transpersonal psychology, with a minor in astrology, from the Transpersonal Psychology Institute in Boulder, Colo., in 1984.
Crystalâs life took her in many directions and she traveled extensively. She was licensed as a residential real estate appraiser and then set up a midwifery program writing Florida law that incorporated spirituality back into the art of midwifery. She was licensed as a midwife.
Crystal met Lee Beymer and it was love at first sight. They were married six months later and have been inseparable for the past 24 years. They have two sons, 14-year-old Christopher and 11-year-old Simon.
Crystal was preceded in death by her older sister, Cornelia, who also died of ovarian cancer. She is survived by her husband, Lee Beymer; sons Christopher and Simon Beymer; father and mother; sister, Nicoline Mayger; nieces, Audrey and Sarah; and nephews, Benjamin and Basil.
As many know, Crystal brought great love, light and wisdom to every conversation and gathering. She helped many find their place and path in life through her wise counseling and teachings. She wrote volumes of poetry as well as a book entitled âAstrology, The Common, The Extraordinary and The Challengesâ (yet to be published). She was a woman of many talents and truly lived her life fully.
It was her wish to be buried in sight of Mount Sopris and the service will be at noon on Thursday, Feb. 25, in the Evergreen Cemetery on Eighth Street in Carbondale. She also wanted to celebrate life with her friends, so all are invited to attend a âCelebration of Lifeâ on Saturday from 4-10 p.m. at the Solara School in El Jebel. The evening will be a sharing of stories, poetry, song and dance â" come to have fun and celebrate this remarkable womanâs life, as well as life itself! Per Crystalâs request, in lieu of flowers, please bring organic food to share.
Contributions are welcomed to assist with the remaining medical bills and can be made, tax-deductible, to the Uninsured Foundation in care of Crystal Beymer, 132 Midland Ave., Suite 3, Basalt, CO 81621 and are certainly much appreciated.
